Part Two : Our Most Potent Weapon - Dua

Assalamualikum

Bismillah,

Last time we discussed taking a closer at ourselves and see what we would like to improve this ramadan . Although what I am going to discuss now isn't something new that you haven't heard before but as Allah swt tells us in the Quran:

Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them) (Surah A'la 87 : 9)

And again

So remind them (O Muhammad (SAW)) — you are only a one who reminds. (Surah Ghassiyah 88: 21)

So, we have to remind one another and its up to Allah to make that reminder beneficial for us. I want to remind all of us (including myself) to make dua . Why? Well for many reasons :
Firstly:

Dua is the essence of worship (Tirmidhi)

Need i say more? I don't think so.

Secondly:

I feel that in this day and age everyone is focused on being independent and self sufficient and I feel that sometimes we stress out so much is because we think that whatever I need to do I need to do it on my own and there is so little time. The rush of panic envelopes you and you think I am doomed . We run for help but while it is important to ask help from others but key part of being self sufficient is to ask for Allah first and foremost and not to feel that we need "people" to get things done. Allah Provides for us, He Alone Sustains us and He Alone brought us to life. So, when we know He is all Powerful then why do we shy away from asking Him for help? Why are our duas done in hurry without emotion without feeling as if we could care less what Allah gives us. Astaghfirullah.

Thirdly:
If you look at a key element of our worship is lacking that devotion and sincerity. So, while ramadan is almost here lets make a lot of dua to Allah that we are able to experience Ramadan in the best way possible and Allah grants us the strength the vigour to worship Him more and Praise Him more and Love Him more. I suggest you get a pen and paper and jot down all the duas you want to make and make it a point to include the bad habits that you made a list of.
It may seem impossible at this point to even think that you can give up a bad habit that you have had for a good 10 - 15 years of you life maybe but that is no reason for you to shy and not ask for Allah's help that doesn't make us self sufficient and independent, it makes us arrogant and stupid. Because if anyone can truly help you and guide you towards kicking those bad habits Allah swt can.

Lastly:

Take special benefit of today , that is Friday and make alot of dua for yourself and pray for Allah to give you strength to worship Him in the best manner possible this ramadan and even make dua that you get into the habit of making more dua :

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) it is related that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) talked about Friday and said,
“There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslm makes dua (supplication) in it, his dua will definitely be accepted.” And He (Peace be upon him) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.
[Bukhari and Muslim]
Sometimes we do end up getting confused about what to ask for and then when you read this hadith you realize, we are truly powerless and for every little thing (provided it is halaal) we need Allah's Help for without it we are nothing;
The Prophet (May Allah be pleased with him) said: “Man should call upon Allah alone to provide for all his needs, so much so that even if a shoe-lace is broken, he should pray to Allah to provide a shoe-lace, and if he needs salt, he should beseech Allah to send it to him.” [Tirmidhi]
